Making the invisible visible. And curable.
Resurface Therapeutics is pioneering new ways to restore health by addressing the underlying biological drivers of disease. We combine deep scientific insight with innovative therapeutic design to illuminate previously overlooked pathways and create solutions with meaningful impact for patients.
Our mission is simple: bring forward transformative medicines that make the invisible visible and curable.
The Deadliest Cancer in the World: Lung Cancer

Lung cancer kills more people than any other cancer on earth. It does not get the attention of breast or prostate cancer, and it does not ask about your habits.
342/day
342 Americans die of lung cancer every day. More than breast, prostate, and colon cancer combined.
1.8 million
Number of lung cancer deaths worldwide each year. The #1 cancer killer on earth.
1 in 16
Ratio of Americans that will develop lung cancer in their lifetime.
5% to 7%
Five-year survival rate once the disease reaches Stage 4.
20,000-40,000
Number of those diagnosed each year that have never smoked. Radon, air pollution, and genetics are all risk factors. The average diagnosis age for people who have never smoked is 66. For smokers, it is 67. Not smoking offers almost no protection on timing.
And for a large share of these patients, the best immunotherapies we have simply do not work.
Their tumors have switched off the surface signal that the immune system uses to recognize danger. The tumor becomes invisible, and no amount of immune activation can find it. What remains for them is chemotherapy.
Statistics sourced from the American Cancer Society, World Health Organization, U.S. EPA and CDC.
A treatment that works with the body, not against it.
We are building a therapy that restores the immune recognition signal that lung tumors switch off. Once the signal is back, the tumor becomes visible again, and the approved immunotherapies already in these patients’ treatment plans can finally do their job.
We are not replacing immunotherapy. We are making it work for the patients it currently fails.
The mechanism is deliberately simple. We are not introducing a new toxin or engineering a novel immune attack. We correct a specific molecular switch the tumor turned off, and then step out of the way.
That is why we expect a substantially milder side effect profile than chemotherapy. Chemotherapy is not selective. It attacks every rapidly dividing cell it finds, which is why it costs patients their energy, their appetite, their hair, and months of their lives. Our approach targets the tumor and lets the patient’s own immune system respond.
Extending life matters. So does what that life looks like while you are fighting for it.
